I am happy to schedule the next course once I have sufficient expressions of interest of individuals or someone to host the course at their institution.
Please get in touch via the home page contact form to discuss options. We could schedule another really posh course at Highgate House for example, with amazing food and use of the swimming pool!

Description of the course:This is an interdisciplinary CPD course for practising health professionals, in particular therapists, psychologists and physicians. Students and researchers are also welcome to attend. Work areas where my participants usually come from are acute and chronic neurological services, specialist pain services and anaesthesia, hand therapy, children's services and mobility services (amputee centres). Mirror therapy is used within the treatment of one-sided pain and movement disorders (for example CRPS, phantom pain, motor function and hand therapy). No prior knowledge of mirror therapy is required in order to attend the course and the more experienced practitioners who are familiar with all the relevant studies will benefit from the group-based clincial reasoning and knowledge exchange around cases. We will cover theory, protocols, side effects and a wide range of evidence but the main focus is on clinical reasoning in relation to your specific questions. We will train you in tailoring the techniques to patient specifics and needs in order to maximise the benefit and use of time. We will expand your clinical skills by integrating the use of mirror therapy so that you are well trained and confident to use mirror therapy in your clinical setting whereever this may be. At the end of the course there will be a test. If you pass the test, you will receive a certificate and you will be able to join the email list for updates in the field. You will also receive a simple mirror set to take home together with your course booklet so that you can start right away.

Venue:Highgate House is a very nice venue in Northamptonshire. When you are exhausted from learning and clinical reasoning, you can enjoy a walk in the garden or a swim in the pool. You can order a three-course dinner or something small from the bar menue and sit with us if you like. Therefore this course has two added benefits: networking with colleagues and recreation in a very nice setting. However, there is no requirement to stay for dinner or book accommodation at Highgate House, this is entirely optional. |
